Release of test results

1. PURPOSE: This SOP explains the procedure for release of test reports.

2. STAFF RESPONSIBLE AND AUTHORIZED TO PERFORM THE PROCEDURE: Doctor and technical staff

3. PRINCIPLE OF PROCEDURE USED FOR EXAMINATION – Not applicable

4. PROCEDURE
  1. Results of tests are available by 4.30 pm on the day of testing.
  2. Result of each sample tested is entered in the respective registers. Dengue IgM antibody results are entered in LIS by laboratory technician. The result is verified by Doctor and signed. (Refer Laboratory Information System Manual-LSCHABJMC, issue no.1)
  3. Access to LIS is limited to technicians and doctor working in virology lab so that there is no tampering of data and confidentiality is maintained. LIS is password protected (Refer Laboratory Information System Manual-LSCHABJMC, issue no.1).
  4. Reports are generated electronically and dispatched to respective locations ie wards, OPD and district head quarters.
  5. Lab nos. for which results are dispatched are entered in the Dispatch book along with wards of the patients and signatures are taken from the sister in charge or the resident doctor who receives the reports of the respective wards.
  6. Results are also sent in soft copy to NVBDCP, Gandhinagar & District health officer and a record is maintained in file no. DF 02.
  7. PM reports are sent to corresponding authority in sealed cover with outward no. and date.

REPORT FORM HAS FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
    • Name of lab and ID of patient
    • Name of referring clinician
    • Date of primary sample collection
    • Primary sample type and Sample condition
    • Result of test
    • Date & Interpretation of result
    • Time of release of result
    • Signature of person authorized or Section In charge

5. TAT FOR TEST
  • Results for Samples of Friday (received after 11.30 am)) to Tuesday (received before 11.30 am) - 4.30P.M on Tuesday
Results for Samples of Tuesday (received after 11.30 am) to Friday (received before 11.30 am) - 4.30P.M on Friday
