PURPOSE - ELISA Reader is used to read and calculate the absorbance values or optical density of the ELISA test.

LOCATION – Dengue Lab

DEFINITION: OD= optical density

OPERATION:

1. Put the power switch on.
2. Stat Fax 3200 will appear on screen.
3. Select mode will appear on screen. In this window, Test option appears.
4. Press test.
5. Screen shows- Select stored test Enter test number.
6. Press1.( 1st Filter 450 and 2nd filter 620nm wavelength)
7. On screen following appears:
8. Absorbance mode 8
9. A to H format
10. Load plate- read
11. Put the plate on the reader platform.

1. Press read.
2. After the reading is over, take out the plate & put the switch off.
3. If there is any spillage clean with 70% Ethanol, wipe with sterile cotton.

MAINTENANCE:

·       Suitable power supply is used and instrument is placed with good air circulation around it, excessive vibration is avoided.

·       While using the instrument regularly attention is paid to turn the power off and unplug the instrument.

·       Disposable gloves are used while handling the instrument.

·       Outer surface of the instrument, the track and the plate carrier are cleaned with a cloth dampened with water or mild detergent.

·       Do not try to open the instrument.

·       If any problem is encountered, in charge is informed immediately and company expert is called to solve the problem.

·       If there is any spillage of biohazard material, turn the power off and unplug the instrument. By wearing disposable gloves clean the outer surface of the instrument, the track and the plate carrier with disposable cloth dampened either with 70% Ethanol.

·       If the biohazard material gets inside, call the company expert for cleaning of the instrument.

• Operate the instrument gently.
• Do not use the instrument without a basic knowledge of its operation.
• For any kind of electrical problem, inform the section in charge & electrician immediately.
• Do not modify or change any program.
