PURPOSE - Deep freeze is used to store serum sample for preservation at -20ÂșC.

LOCATION – Dengue lab

DEFINITION -   °C- Degree centigrade

OPERATION:
  1. Put the Deep freezer in ‘ON’ condition.
  2. Adjust the required temperature i.e: -20°C.
  3. Monitor that the set temperature is maintained regularly.
  4. After the required temperature is attained, put the necessary material inside the deep freezer.
  5. Every morning note the temperature immediately by the first person opening it and record in the sheet pasted on the deep freeze and in register no PR 43.
MAINTENANCE:
  • Record the freezer temp in the morning by the first person opening it.
  • Temp chart should be maintained.
  • Any technical problem should immediately be informed to the person in charge.
  • They are connected with voltage stabilizer to protect the deep freezer from voltage fluctuations.
  • Any operating problems like high temperature are recorded and brought to notice of officer concerned

PROCEDURE FOR DEFROSTING
  • Every month, deep freeze should be defrosted, clean it with 1% Sod. Hypochlorite solution and dried with cloth. While defrosting & cleaning deep freeze no DDF-1, contents are transferred in deep freeze no 17 of polio lab.

RESPONSIBILITY – Laboratory technicians

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS-
  • Do not modify or change system components.
  • Disconnect unit from main power before attempting any maintenance to equipment or control.
